Article: New Prince Hall principal bound to be an asset to the community

For the first time in 16 years, a new principal is at the helm of Prince
Hall Elementary School. She is Sharon Patton-Thaxton, the former assistant
principal at Widener Memorial School.

It was difficult for Patton-Thaxton to leave Widener, particularly after
being there for 14 years. "It was a heartbreak [to leave]," she said. "It
was sad, and I was upset."

Widener's Principal Robert Mack was upset too. Mack and Patton-Thaxton
shared a wonderful professional relationship. But Thaxton informed that
Mack was very supportive.

"I kept saying, 'I don't want to go if you don't feel [right],'" she said.
