This month, breast cancer awareness will be brought to the forefront.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States,
affecting one in eight women. While African - American women may have a
lower rate of breast cancer incidence than white women, they have a higher
rate of mortality from the disease.

Another body of research suggests that African-American women are more
likely to be diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer than white women. A
recent study led by Dr. Beth Jones, assistant professor of epidemology and
