Students, parents and staff at Brockett Elementary School in Tucker have
decided to "adopt" a severely damaged elementary school in Punta Gorda,
Florida. After witnessing the devastation and destruction on TV, a group of
PTA members decided that it was time to help. Upon speaking to a reporter
from the local Punta Gorda newspaper, the Sun-Herald, the Brockett PTA
realized how big the need is to help the students in this damaged area of
Southwest Florida. When the committee consulted with the Charlotte County
public school administration, it was determined that Brockett Elementary
School would "adopt" East Elementary School, the elementary school most
