HAILED as a miracle drug because of its many clinical indications, simple
and inexpensive aspirin can unfortunately trigger allergy symptoms,
particularly in those with asthma.

It has long been established that aspirin can relieve pain and
inflammation, ease a fever, prevent a heart attack or, even, help ward off
certain cancers.

However, while most individuals can take aspirin without any problems, the
drug can cause congestion or breathing difficulties in 5 percent or more of
those with asthma, according to the September 2004 issue of the Harvard
Heart Letter. Also, many others have undetected sensitivity to aspirin and
related drugs.
