Moscow region authorities went on the counterattack against IKEA on
Tuesday, rebuffing charges by the Swedish furniture giant that bureaucrats
were to blame for the delayed opening of its $300 million Mega Mall in
Khimki.
IKEA is in violation of Russian law by not moving a gas pipeline
located under the mall's parking lot, the Moscow region government said
in a statement. Suggestions that IKEA's refusal to pay bribes was really
behind the delay are "groundless," the statement said.
Eastern Europe's largest mall was supposed to have opened its doors on
