Vietnam's capital city Hanoi is well on its way down the road to
development. But as the city soars into modernisation, it also faces a
mounting population and strains on its infrastructure and public services.
Complicating matters is the fact that surrounding provinces still lag far
behind, which fuels the march to Hanoi. Local and provincial authorities
now believe the solution lies in designing a regional masterplan, which
would see Hanoi and its outlying areas work together to lift the standards
of the entire region.
Hanoi is well down the road to development, but can the surrounding
provinces keep up?
