EVERYONE knows Negara Ku is Malaysia's national anthem but many are ignorant as to how the anthem was conceived.
Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra, our first Prime Minister, led the Malayan team to London to sign the Merdeka Agreement with Secretary of State Lennox- Boyd in Lancaster House on Feb 8, 1955.
With independence to be granted on Aug 31, 1957, the Tunku knew Malaya had to have a national anthem but no one had any idea what it should be.
