MADISON, NJ -- In ceremonies on September 29, 2004, Fairleigh Dickinson
University conferred an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters on Sister
Margherita Marchione, professor emerita of languages at Fairleigh Dickinson
University and a member of the Religious Sisters Filippini.
Sister Margherita was honored for her academic and humanitarian
achievements and for her support and counsel to the founders of Fairleigh
Dickinson, Peter and Sally Sammartino.
In this, the centennial year of Peter Sammartino's birth, Sister Margherita
was cited for her dedicated efforts to preserve the legacy of the
Sammartinos and forward the mission of the university they founded.
