Food intolerance is a reaction to food that causes unpleasant symptoms.
When someone is sensitive to a food in this way, they will react every time
they come into contact with it.
Food allergy is a particular type of food intolerance that involves the
immune system. When someone has a food allergy, their immune system reacts
to a particular food as if it isn't safe. Chemicals are released in the
body, especially histamine, and this is what causes the symptoms of the
food allergy. If you think you have a food allergy, talk to your gerneral
practitioner.
