Basketball giant Dawn Staley was chosen to carry the flag for the United
States during the opening Olympic ceremonies this past summer.
Unfortunately, because of a late-breaking local story that occurred during
the same time, Staley's honor didn't receive as much coverage as it could
have.
The staff and students of Staley's alma mater, Murrell E. Dobbins Area
Vocational-Technical High School, wanted the current head women's
basketball coach of Temple University to receive her proper accolades.
Staley, a three-time Olympic gold medalist, is a native of Philadelphia
that has given back to her community in numerous ways.
