Fort Benning Garrison Commander Colonel Rick Riera and Columbus Water Works
(CWW) President Billy Turner agree a contract signed September 27, 2004, is
a win-win partnership.
Beginning October 1, 2004, the CWW will provide Fort Benning with water and
wastewater services. Under the' fifty-year contract, the Columbus Water
Works will initially operate the existing Fort Benning facilities and will
eventually tie Benning users on to the Columbus Water Works system.
Turner said, "the water and wastewater system transfer is expected to be
seamless. Initially, neither Fort Benning nor Columbus residents should
