GOLF: Votaw to retire as LPGA Tour commissioner after 2005

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida, Jan 7 AFP - Ty Votaw will step down as commissioner of the
LPGA Tour at the end of the 2005 season, the tour announced today.

Votaw has held the job since 1999, and his seven-year tenure is the second-longest
in tour history.

"Having the privilege to lead the LPGA will always be one of the highest honours of
my professional life," said Votaw, 43.

"While it was a difficult decision for me, it was made easier by the fact that the
LPGA's foundation is the strongest it has ever been in its 55-year history and the organisation's
future is very, very bright."
