(The Crimson White) (U-WIRE) TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Teen smoking is down in Alabama, but college students have hardened themselves toward anti-smoking programs and advertisements when deciding if they will light up.
And while almost 30 percent of the state's college-aged residents decide to smoke, the state ranks among the lowest in funding anti-smoking programs.
In Alabama, 29.4 percent of residents ages 18-24 smoke, while 25.3 percent of adults light up, said Diane Beeson, director of tobacco prevention and control for the Alabama Department of Public Health.
