A perjury case against the lone agent in a discredited series of drug busts is nothing but a smear campaign, a defense attorney told jurors Friday. But a prosecutor branded the defendant a "100 percent" liar.

After they heard closing arguments, jurors began deliberating the perjury case against former undercover agent Tom Coleman.

"It's a smear campaign to bring everything the government thinks Tom Coleman did in a negative way, because they want you to hate Tom Coleman so much that all you can do is find him guilty," attorney Kirk Lectenberger said in closing arguments.
