China to Develop Coalbed Methane Resources

BEIJING, Jan 17, 2005 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- At present, China has held the technologies for massively developing coalbed methane resourcesfor commercial use. Coalbed methance will possibly become a substitute for petroleum and natural gas, which are in bad shortage in China.

Coalbed methane is a kind of clean energy and raw material for chemical products. China's total reserves of coalbed methane amount to over 3.146 billion cubic meters, ranking the third following Russia and Canada, said Sun Maoyuan, general manager of China United Coalbed Methane Corporation Ltd.
