Article: New Delhi may lose Commonwealth Games due to bureaucratic delays

India may lose the right to host the 2010 Commonwealth Games due to delays in forming an organizing panel, a top sports official said Tuesday.

"New Delhi is one year behind schedule in forming the organizing committee for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, as stipulated in the hosting agreement," said Randhir Singh, vice president of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF).

Singh said the panel should have been in place in 2003, but the CGF had already extended the deadline four times. The panel will supervise preparations for the event.
