Tokyo shares rebounded Monday as investors hunted for bargain issues following recent declines, while other Asian markets closed mostly lower.

Japan's Nikkei Stock Average of 225 selected issues gained 51.12 points, or 0.5 percent, to finish at 11,289.49. The Nikkei has lost 2.2 percent over the last four sessions, including Friday's drop of 46.40 points, or 0.4 percent.

Investors snapped up automaker Mazda Motor Corp. and high-technology issues Canon Inc., TDK Corp., and Advantest Corp. Major banks, including Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. and UFJ Holdings, Inc., also rose.
