South Africa's A.B. de Villiers and Jacques Kallis scored centuries as the home side set England 185 runs for victory in the final session to win the fifth test Tuesday.
England had a maximum of 44 overs in which to reach the target on the last day at Centurion Park. A win or a draw would hand the side it's first series victory in South Africa for 40 years.
De Villiers became South Africa's third-youngest test centurion when he scored 109 before his team declared its second innings on 296 for six at tea.
He reached the milestone at the age of 20 years and 343 days _ behind the ages of Graeme Pollock and Tuppy Owen-Smith.
