I signed into law legislation that will require a federal criminal
background check on any individual who applies for a security guard license
in New York State. The measure will help to ensure that applicants who have
committed felonies or other serious crimes will not receive a license to
work as a security guard in the state.
All New Yorkers are grateful for the tremendous dedication that our
security guards and their families make everyday to help keep us safe.
Security guards are entrusted with upholding the law, and this new law will
ensure that we are utilizing every resource necessary to check a job
applicant's criminal history before ...
