(Kansas State Collegian) (U-WIRE) MANHATTAN, Kan. -- There are bands that have rocked harder and faster, but none can measure up to the gods of rock and roll: Led Zeppelin. Jimmy Page's classically trained guitar playing, Robert Plant's vocal and lyrical skills, John Paul Jones' bass and John Bonham's drums have been influential to countless bands throughout the years.
They single-handedly brought about the formation of heavy metal through their own mix of hard rock, blues, world music and British folk combined with lyrics that often contained elements of mythology and fantasy. Led Zeppelin formed in England in 1968.
