(Oklahoma Daily) (U-WIRE) NORMAN, Okla. -- After serving in the Army for five years, Brian Bourn, University of Oklahoma freshman, returned from a deployment in Iraq last year without health insurance.

Bourn, who is now separated from the military, said the money he gets from the Montgomery G.I. Bill pays for school but not much else, so an expensive doctor's visit forced him and his wife to tighten their budget.

The Montogomery G.I. Bill provides soldiers and veterans with up to 36 months of education benefits for college, according to gibill.com.
