We have never had the chance to receive a visit from the angels announcing
a great event, as it happened to the shepherds on the night of the first
Christmas. Neither have we ever seen a sign in the sky indicating that the
King of the world was born, as it happened to the Magi.

Nevertheless we have been celebrating Christmas for two thousand years,
confiding in the message that we received through the Gospels, announcing
that our redemption came in the moment when God sent us His Son, born in a
manger in the village of Bethlehem.

This event was awaited impatiently by mankind living with the burden of sin
inherited from our first parents. ...
