The Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference was held recently in Minneapolis,
Minn. A stellar gathering of African American laypersons and theologians
attended the conference to rein-vigorate the social justice agenda of
America's Black churches.

Dr. Samuel DeWitt Proctor, the 20th century prophet of the Black church,
was a scholar, teacher, university president, public servant, Africanist,
mentor, family man and preacher. His life is one of uncompromised
faithfulness, theological integrity and informed social action.
