Olympic gold medal skier Bill Johnson was released from jail late Monday after a traffic stop resulted in charges of assaulting police officers, driving under the influence of intoxicants and resisting arrest.

Earlier Monday, Multnomah County Circuit Judge Steven Todd had ordered Johnson to remain in jail pending an evaluation for supervised release.

A sheriff's deputy and police officer stopped Johnson in his pickup truck last Friday near his mother's house in Gresham.
