Diversity and family drama at Riverdale film festival.
The Riverdale Y's International Film Festival, now in its third year and
third incarnation, has come of age. It began in 2003 with a series of
federation-sponsored Israeli films screenings, shown over the course of
three winter weekends and periodically throughout the year. It has morphed
into a privately sponsored nine-day festival, with six contemporary films
by Israeli and Diaspora Jews, and three topical discussion groups.
The festival spotlights three documentaries -- all complex family dramas --
and three feature films, focusing on disparate topics -- the Jewish Mafia,
Israel's foreign labor ...
