A pension plan that represents union workers sued American International Group Inc. on Friday in a bid to force the insurance giant to allow large investors to nominate board directors using the company's proxy ballots.
The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Pension Plan filed suit in U.S. District Court for the southern district of New York. The pension plan wants AIG to include in its proxy materials a shareholder resolution that would make it easier for the largest investors to run their candidates during routine board elections.
The lawsuit appears to open a front in the battle over proxy access after a series of defeats ...
