(Washington Square News) (U-WIRE) NEW YORK -- A proposal to add gender identity to New York University's anti-discrimination policy was abandoned at Thursday's University Senate meeting after three years of consideration.

Though the University Committee on Student Life recommended in 2003 that the university adopt this policy change, the Senate Committee on Organization and Governance, which has been weighing the issue since last year, decided it would not propose the alteration.
