Kosovo's former prime minister is bound for the U.N. war crimes court to answer charges stemming from his wartime role as a senior rebel commander, following an indictment that prompted him to step down as premier.

Ramush Haradinaj, who served as prime minister for just three months, was expected to surrender to the Netherlands-based war crimes court along with two others for alleged war crimes. He presented his resignation to his Cabinet early Tuesday.
