NSW: Gillett's lies to RTA costs lives of young family: Judge

SYDNEY, March 18 AAP - A senior public official's lies to the NSW Roads and Traffic
Authority about his epilepsy cost the lives of a young family and shattered many others,
a judge said today.

NSW District Court judge Peter Berman jailed 51-year-old Ross Gillett for seven years,
with a non-parole period of five years and three months over the deaths of the couple
and their daughter.

Gillett, a navy senior public relations officer, displayed "remarkable selfishness"

in putting his convenience of having a licence above the safety of others, Judge Berman
said.
