With Los Angeles Mayor's primary election fast approaching memories of Tom
Bradley, the first African American elected mayor to serve the nation's
second largest city come to mind. This quiet-spoken son of a Texas
sharecropper brought this culturally diverse city together. The majority of
the current field of mayoral candidates worked with the Bradley in one
capacity or the other during his 30- plus years in city politics. They have
made tributes to the legacy and credited the influence of Tom Bradley.
