Don Yahola, Creek Nation of Oklahoma, who for over two decades was active
in Middle Tennessee Indian struggles, was also an avid organizer of pow
wows in the region. When he walked on in June of 2000, his family resolved
to maintain the pow wow he started some twenty plus years ago.

"By continuing the pow wow it was the best way to maintain the legacy and
honor the tradition that was started by my father because it meant so much
to him to maintain the Indian culture," said his daughter, Cindy Yahola
Gallegos, who has been ably assisted by her busband Daniel Gallegos.

This 2nd Memorial Pow Wow was held on September 25-26 at the Mt. Juliet
