Some say that Sunday morning is one of the most segregated times in
America. Although recreational venues, eateries and shopping malls attract
different ethnic groups, many churches' memberships are composed primarily
of one group.
Pastors, scholars and church officials differ as to whether or not they
think this indicates a "racist" attitude, but agree that places of worship
should examine their approaches to multicultural ministry and racial
reconciliation issues.
"Is it really reconciliation if it's two groups that are just viewing one
group's culture," said Dr. Harold Trulear, pastor of the Mt. Pleasant
Baptist Church in Twin Oaks.
