A group of local businessmen is excited over the prospects of being the
first to market to Filipino-Americans in the tri-state area a Brazilian
fruit juice with medicinal qualities.

The fruit juice, sometimes called Acai, is similar to the Noni juice of
Hawaii. Manufactured and distributed by Fruta Vida International, Inc.
(FVI), Austin, Texas, the drink is a blend of juices or extracts from three
plants found in "Nature's Medicine Chest": the Amazon rainforest. The
plants with high nutritional value are acai (pronounced "ah-sigh-EE"),
cupuacu ("Coo-pwAH-soo") and yerba mat.
