Japan's foreign minister ended a fence-mending trip to China on Tuesday without any real resolution to the worst dispute between the Asian powers in decades, but the two sides were considering a summit of their leaders for this weekend.

China's State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan told Foreign Minister Machimura Nobutaka during his three-day visit that Japan had "repeatedly failed the trust of the Chinese people," and damaged the friendly relations between the two sides, the China Daily newspaper reported.
