SEREMBAN, Fri. - Local fertiliser producers have been urged to increase

production, especially of organic fertilisers, to reduce the country's
dependence on imports.

Agriculture and Agro-Based Industries Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin

said half of the agricultural input in the country, such as fertilisers

and seed, were imported.

"The move to produce our own agricultural input, especially fertiliser,

is crucial and in line with the Government's aim of increasing the

nation's food production in the next five years," he said.
