I was lucky enough to know Arthur Miller. I didn't know him well, though,
and the times I was with him over the years I was so in awe of his presence
that it was hard to think of anything else. First, I never knew what to
call him. Arthur? Everyone else was doing it, but I couldn't quite get that
out of my mouth. Mr. Miller? That would have been easy enough, but pretty
silly under the casual circumstances of the small dinner parties where I
usually saw him. Mostly I called him nothing.

The fault was all mine. Except for the fact that he was so tall and so
