Fed: Rolls Royce engine for new helicopters

CANBERRA, May 4 AAP - The Australian Defence Force has chosen Rolls Royce engines to
power 12 new army troop transport helicopters.

Defence Minister Robert Hill and Industry Minister Ian Macfarlane said the Rolls Royce
Turbomeca engine had been chosen for the new MRH-90 helicopters following a defence evaluation
of options.

Senator Hill said the selection of the Rolls Royce engine was another step forward
in the $1 billion project to equip the army with new helicopters.

He said the first of the new aircraft was expected to be delivered in 2007 with all
