Community activists, healthcare professionals, former patients and other
supporters recently came together to plan strategy and raise awareness and
momentum to sustain a medical facility in southwest Atlanta in light of the
closing and ongoing bankruptcy proceedings of Southwest Hospital and
Medical Center.
"Concerned Citizens of Southwest Hospital Community" and proponents of the
permanent operation of an African-American hospital gathered last weekend
(Feb. 20) to initiate support letters, a Blue Ribbon panel and Hospital
"ambassadors" to local, state and federal officials for Southwest Hospital
to re-open for the majority black southwest Atlanta ...
