President Bush has begun an overseas trip that starts in Latvia and takes him to Moscow on Monday. The president and other world leaders will celebrate the Allied victory in Europe in the Second World War. The Soviet Union, as it was then, lost about 27 million people in the war. At great cost, the Red Army turned the Third Reich back and altered the course of the entire war. This is how the BBC described it.
