National governments need to pass clear legislation against forced labor if they are to help the more than 12 million people around the world who are trapped into working without consent, the U.N. labor agency said.
The vast majority of forced laborers _ almost 10 million _ are in Asia and the Pacific region, and many of those were trafficked for commercial sexual exploitation, the International Labor Organization said in an 87-page report released Wednesday.
