Opening Statement of Sam Brownback U.S. Senator Committee on Senate Indian
Affairs May 25, 2005 Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I am honored to sit before
this Committee today to speak about an issue that I believe is very important
to the health of the United States and has lain unresolved for far too
long. That issue is our nation`s relationship with the Native peoples of
this land. Mr. Chairman, every Member of this Committee is very familiar
with the legacy of the Native Tribes on our continent. We know that long
before 1776 and the establishment of the United States of America, this
