When Edna Smith started a small family planning program on Blue Hill Avenue
more than 30 years ago, little did she know it would eventually grow to
become the Mattapan Community Health Center.

On April 30, supporters will gather aboard the Spirit of Boston to
celebrate the health center's 33rd anniversary as the primary health care
provider for one of Boston's most underserved communities and honor the
recipient of the ninth annual Edna W. Smith Pioneer in Community Health
Care Award.

At Rock the Boat number nine, Mattapan Community Health Center will pay
special tribute to Matt Fishman, director of Community Benefit Programs at
Partners HealthCare in ...
