Golf: Why Australians are deserting golf clubs

SYDNEY, June 7 AAP - Nearly 30,000 golf club members have disappeared in Australia
in the past four years.

But it doesn't mean they have given up golf, or that the game is in crisis.

Far from it. Government figures show golf continues to rank with tennis as the country's
No.1 organised participation sport. More kids than ever are being introduced to the game,
and at the elite level, the talent pool is deeper than ever.

Currently there are 12 Australian tour professionals ranked in the top 100 in the world,
and Australia's women, led by new Hall of Fame inductee ...
