Fed: Chicken meat industry says its not behind superbug outbreak
CANBERRA, June 11 AAP - The chicken meat industry today rejected claims that it was
behind the latest outbreak of potentially deadly antibiotic resistant bacteria in NSW
hospitals.
Dr Andreas Dubs, executive director of the Chicken Meat Federation, said there was
simply no evidence to support claims made on the Channel Nine A Current Affair (ACA) program
linking use of antibiotics in the poultry industry to antibiotic resistant bacteria in
hospitals.
Dr Dubs said the concern was that people would stop eating chicken meat or be unnecessarily
worried.
He said chicken meat was healthy ...
