Fed: Sleep disorders costing Australia billions

SYDNEY, June 14 AAP - Australians who can't get enough shut-eye are costing the nation
billions of dollars, a new report says.

An Access Economics report into the social and economic burden of sleeping disorders,
released today, found the condition costs Australia about $10 billion every year.

While $630 million of this was related to medical costs, the rest was due to productivity
losses, the cost of work and vehicle accidents and the loss of quality of life, report
co-author Dr Ral Antic said.
