WA: Tour operator under scrutiny after failed Karijini tour

Authorites may tighten adventure tourism regulation in Western Australia following
another rescue from one of the state's most popular national parks.

Eleven people, including a tour guide, emerged yesterday from a gorge in Karijini National
Park, in the Pilbara region after a night in near freezing temperatures.

Their tour operator, JOHN SPENCE, had been due to make his first appearance in South
Hedland Magistrates' Court yesterday on an existing charge of breaching the conditions
of his operator's licence.
