A slump in second-quarter earnings at Morgan Stanley puts the firm's board under increased pressure to speed up its search for a new chief executive. Morgan Stanley said Wednesday that net income in the quarter fell 24 percent from a year earlier to $928 million. Revenue dropped to $6.04 billion from $6.65 billion. There is now a growing consensus among people involved in the search for the new chief that the board may make an offer to a candidate within days to stem further executive departures and stabilize the business.
