(Daily Texan) (U-WIRE) AUSTIN, Texas -- Texans will soon be able to indicate organ donor preferences on their driver's licenses.
According to a bill signed by Gov. Rick Perry last week, the Department of Public Safety will create a registry allowing Texas drivers to indicate organ donor preferences when they apply for or renew their driver's licenses.
The bill stipulates that the contract to run the registry must be awarded by September 2006. Once the registry is functional, drivers will be able to sign up when they renew their licenses, or they can register by phone or online.
