Sport's highest court will rule on Thursday whether Michael Johnson and the rest of the U.S. 1,600-meter relay team should be stripped of their gold medals from the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

The United States Olympic Committee filed an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport challenging a recommendation by the IAAF to disqualify the entire squad for a doping scandal involving team member Jerome Young.

A final decision on reallocating the medals is up to the IOC's executive board, scheduled to meet in October in Lausanne. Should it rule against the Americans, Nigeria would be upgraded to gold, Jamaica to silver, and the Bahamas to ...
