KLANG, Sat. - He has climbed close to a million coconut trees in 30 years

but S. Ponnusamy is not about to give up his job just yet.
"As long as my limbs allow it, I will continue," the 50-year-old said

with a wide smile.

He used to follow his father, who tapped toddy, and at the age of 20 he

climbed his first coconut tree for fun. He did not expect it to become a

vocation.

Climbing 80 trees daily, he has raised two sons with his small income.

His children, however, are working in factories.
